特定的搭配或组合

凡表示具体事物的汉语词，一般都有相应的外语词，不难理解；一旦它们进入某些特定的搭配或组合，就产生了特殊的抽象概念，这种概念往往为汉民族所独有，外国人不易弄清楚，故翻译时须将其内涵交代明白，如：
锅 wok，pot 或pan——背黑锅 to bear the blame for other's faults或to make a scapegoat of…。不宜直译为to bear a black pot。 尾巴 tail——割尾巴 to eradicate remnants of erroneous things。不宜直译为to cut off the tail。 饭碗 bowl——铁饭碗 stable and life—long job，有时也直译为iron bowl。 气候 climate——小气候local or national situation 是与大气候 international situation 相对，不宜直译为microclimate。 火箭 rocket——火箭干部。有人译作rocket cadre，欠妥，它可能被误解为负责火箭的人，而宜译为fastrising officials；a rising star in public affairs。  更多文章
